I feel like this would work great for the intended purpose, but would be much better with a simple beat or rhythm.

Ah man, I really dig this track, cool intro and I like the beat. Interesting choices and rhythms. As the track progresses, the gain starts to fill up the volume space to the point where there's less and less room for it to breathe and have impact for the beat. I think this video could help with that regard:
